We offer Individualized Psychedelic Preparation and Integration Sessions & Group Integration Sessions. We utilize a Harm-Reduction Approach, and teach a variety of self-help strategies to help clients prepare for and then gain the most out of their transformational experiences. We believe in having a partnership in our work with people, which is formed by the pillars of mutual respect, rapport building, respect for the medicine, and trust in client's inner healer/ intelligence as the most important participant in being able to take away a sustained healing experience, and bring these experiential insights into their daily life.
EPIC coordinates with medical prescribers for ketamine services, then provides Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) Support during sessions. ARE YOU GOING TO OFFER PSILOCYBIN ASSISTED THERAPY?
Yes, we still hope to do so. We're making preparations to offer psilocybin assisted therapy in Spring/Summer of 2023, including staff training and following State of Oregon guidelines for opening a service center. EPIC staff, with the help of the medical prescribers who have joined our EPIC Healing Eugene's ketamine provider network, hope to start our new ketamine services beginning with a soft roll out of services in Spring 2023, starting with Oral Ketamine (sublingual/ troches). We are exploring with our providers on when EPIC can add Intramuscular Injections (IM). Depending on how our ketamine program evolves, and our provider network, we hope to offer Nasal, and possibly IV (Intravenous Infusions) in the future. What is Ketamine and What is it Helpful for?

EPIC Healing Eugene's costs are pretty high in what we need to pay our ketamine providers and the level of staffing we have to provide our ketamine services, so we are limited in how much we can discount our sessions, beyond some of our lowest prices and creative staffing offered. Though, we are trying to figure out how we can offer some occasional discounts. The need is high and we understand that. For our neurofeedback service, and integrative counseling support, insurance can be used for both of these services. The issue for funding comes down to the actual medicine sessions.
EPIC has decided to have a waitlist for EPIC’s lowest sliding scale services, but these services will be limited to 1-2 clients per month. Waitlist timeline for ketamine services with EPIC staff will be unknown due to the high number of people requesting discounted services. Please seek other forms of help and support if you are in crisis, and consider getting on our wait list for Eugene Neurofeedback practice (or with another neurofeedback provider in town), as this too helps build positive neuopathways, and this healing service is covered by insurance, being billed as a counseling, cognitive-mindfulness modality. Are There any financial assistance Programs Available to pay for ketamine sessions?
Besides Spravoto (as noted above) and strict qualifying criteria including prior authorization process, there are very limited funded options for ketamine, as will be the case for psilocybin in Service Centers in Oregon (2023). EPIC is exploring discounted session we can occasional provide, as well a national ketamine scholarship program called the Thank You Fund. Application process will require proof of income/assets when applying for this or other limited assistance programs. We’ll advise interested clients when application period is open for the Thank You Fund. Likely this program will start serving low-income clients, paying ketamine programs 80-90% of client's session costs, beginning sometime in Spring of 2023.
How to Schedule with Prescribing Provider For Medical Intake, and Potential Costs.
1. Once you have completed initial inquiry for services, completed free 15-minute phone or zoom call, you are ready to get scheduled with one of our prescribing ketamine providers. We will do our best to match you with your insurance coverage, so this intake can be covered by insurance. Otherwise the cost is $333.00. This will be discussed with you during your 15 minute consult after your initial intake forms are reviewed.
2. After you have completed intake with ketamine prescriber, they will recommend next steps or simply give you approval to then be served by the EPIC Healing Team. I Need Help Accessing and returning forms. Can I pick-up and Drop-off at the EPIC Healing Eugene Office?
Yes, Please contact EPIC Intake (Cathy) to arrange for intake paperwork pick-up or to receive drop-off instructions. This takes some preparation on our end, where intake forms can be left for you in main lobby, which you can complete on site or return on a different day. This process can also be used if you don't feel comfortable emailing back your confidential information or for any other reason, such as only having a phone to complete paperwork or if having other technical issues. You can contact EPIC and we'll try to make this process easier for you. Please note, there is no building receptionist, main lobby is sometimes locked, and EPIC staff does not have availability to meet with walk-ins or clients who are not scheduled for an appointment. Thank You. How do I Get Scheduled For Ketamine Sessions?
Once EPIC Intake receives okay from provider, you will be able to sign up for ketamine services, choose ketamine packages that best fit your needs and budget, and pay for these services online. You will be asked to completed additional intake paperwork in order to use your medical insurance for counseling- preparation and integration counseling. We will start by manually adding you to the schedule for your initial sessions, after consulting with you on your schedule. We are also adding an online calendar for clients to schedule themselves. We will provide you with online link when this is up and running. Cathy (EPIC Integrative Therapist and Intake, will be primary contact for KAP clients. Email and texting is the preferred means for communicating about scheduling. Thank you. When are The Ketamine MEDICINE Sessions offered?
We offer ketamine medicine sessions on Mondays and Fridays, and once a month on Saturdays. What about Preparation and Integration Sessions with Integrative Therapist. How are these scheduled, and what are costs for these? Are they covered by my Insurance?
We offer at least one individual preparation session before your medicine experience. This is important and can help you get more out of your experience, and can set the tone for your whole ketamine series. Trust and rapport building are important to this process, as the more you can relax into your experience the more you'll be able to welcome the medicine and healing support of the EPIC staff.
These specialized counseling sessions with Cathy Rosewell Jonas, LCSW, or one of our psychedelic integrative counselors typically take about an hour. A variety of clinical modalities are provided including internal family systems, EMDR (bilateral resource tapping), mindfulness, self-hypnosis and anchoring strategies, mindfulness and spiritual coaching, and guided healing meditations and shamanic journeys to help client's best prepare for a transformational healing experience, and then later access the powerful and inspiring feelings and emotions that were pivotal during psychedelic experience.
Depending on your insurance type, and if there is a qualifying diagnosis, insurance may cover the preparation and integration counseling sessions (before a ketamine or psychedelic experience, and afterwards, typically on a different day following your experience or later in the day of your medicine experience when the effects of ketamine have subsided). Otherwise, typically when you under the influence of ketamine for psychological, emotional, and physical healing these are considered off-label uses of ketamine and are private pay. (There are a few exceptions to these guidelines related to esketamine/ Spravoto is mentioned in a separate category on this FAQ page).
Clients generally meet medical criteria for counseling service, which is necessary for your insurance to be billed. Many commercial, medicare, and medicaid insurance plans are accepted by the EPIC Therapist Team, however some are not. Your insurance plan is important information to note on your initial inquiry for services, which will be discussed with you as part of the 15 free consultation call. If your insurance is not accepted, you will be informed of that. If you have an insurance plan that our ketamine prescribers and integrative therapist do not accept, we'll provide private pay options, or some suggestions for alternative services, or any possible scholarship sliding scale funds that may be available that you can apply for (see below). If not insurance coverage, or if you choose to not use your insurance due to the nature of this work, our Preparation and integration counseling sessions at offered at a sliding scale rate $125 - $185/ hour. -Initial Preparation Session available in person or via Zoom. -Integration Sessions are typically only available via zoom. EPIC Healing Eugene also offers our ketamine clients (or past clients) a one hour group counseling integration session via zoom twice a week, on Mondays and Friday afternoons, via zoom. These are offered sliding scale, and are facilitated by different EPIC Team Members. Rate is 25-50/ session. CAN I DRIVE MYSELF TO MY APPOINTMENTS AND JUST DRIVE HOME WHEN I'M FEELING OKAY?
No, we have you sign agreements that you will not drive or operate any heavy machinery the day of your ketamine treatments. This is for your safety and the safety of others. Integration is a key component in educating and empowering clients, helping them bring back what they've experienced during their psychedelic and healing experience into their daily life.
In the case of the Amazonian plant medicine, Ayahuasca, the integration process can take a year or longer following a ceremony. Integration is an ongoing process.
The action of psychedelic's neurogenesis process last longer than the actual experience. This can vary. In the case of ketamine it can continue for days (generally 24-72 hours at the peak of the window of neuroplasticity, up to six days). Pairing ketamine and integration therapy, for example, makes for a more enduring healing experience and prolongs the benefits of the ketamine sessions.
An Integrative Counselor has specialized training in working with psychedelics and helping clients make sense of their experiences, as well as offering a variety of professional clinical modalities to assist clients harvest the most out of their altered state experiences, in which there is greater access to subconscious thoughts, memories, and spiritual healing.
Sessions focus on creating an increased sense of comfort as you go into your session, intention setting, relaxation, healing modalities, and other helpful hints for navigating your upcoming altered state experience. Integration-counseling sessions are ideally scheduled a day to three days following the session, or the following week. There are never too many integration sessions. WHAT IS NEUROFEEDBACK AND HOW IS IT HELPFUL?
We offer neurofeedback as part of our Eugene Neurofeedback practice. This is another healing modality, like psilocybin, ketamine, and other psychedelics, that strengthen neuropathways to support personal growth, resiliency building, and management of chronic symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms, pain, cognitive concerns, mood management, insomnia, and assists with integrating challenging life events related to chronic stress and trauma. We have a waitlist for counseling with neurofeedback. We accept insurance funding and private pay. HOW DOES NEUROFEEDBACK SUPPORT HEALING, and PSYCHEDELIC Preparation and Integration?
Neurofeedback training helps calm fears and enhances emotional regulation, making it a great tool for healing, preparing us emotionally, psychologically, and physiologically for a deeper transformational or personal growth experience. Whether taking a pilgrimage of the heart to Peru for an ayahuasca retreat, engaging in intensive EMDR work with a therapist, or preparing for a professionally guided psychedelic experience, neurofeedback is a helpful ally in the personal growth process. Supporting the healing shifts experienced, by calming the brain and nervous system, makes neurofeedback a powerful tool of integration. In addition to our Infra-low neurofeedback frequency settings, we offer two other specialized neurofeedback programs, Synchrony and Alpha-Theta training. Similar to the action of psychedelics, these specialized brain training programs calm the Default Mode Network, helping us to think outside the box, so we can gain healing perspective, while facing with courage, self-compassion, and neutrality the self-limiting thinking and behaviors that have been holding us back from thriving.
