He provides the medical expertise, administration of IV and IM, and prescribing services for ketamine intranasal or oral maintenance services. Our ketamine nurse, Heather Shelton RN, provides assistance for both ketamine practices. Contact Dr. Danyi directly to inquiry about basic ketamine package, without integration services.

WHAT IS KETAMINE HELPFUL FOR?

A service helpful for many clients who experience depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, mood disturbances, anxiety, or for certain medical conditions, such as pain management or brain fog.

ARE YOU GOING TO OFFER PSILOCYBIN ASSISTED THERAPY?

Yes. We are making preparations in our practice to offer psilocybin assisted therapy in 2023, including staff training and following for guidelines from the state as to legal timelines and approved setting criteria. We are looking forward to it!

HOW CAN I DETERMINE IF KETAMINE IS A GOOD FIT FOR ME?

There are sometimes medication counter-indications, certain medical, or mental health conditions that may interfere or work in opposition to the therapeutic action of ketamine. Dr. John Danyi or Heather Shelton, RN, will provide a 20-30 minute medical consultation as part of our screening and intake process.

WHAT IS KETAMINE ASSISTED THERAPY?

Ketamine services used for healing, provided by trained medical professional.

WHAT IS KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Therapeutic and counseling services provided by a professional mental health and/or trained integrative therapist, who is present while the ketamine services are provided by medical professional. Mental health services often include preparation and integration counseling sessions that support the ketamine therapeutic process.

An Integrative Counselor has had specialized training in working with psychedelics and helping clients make sense of their experiences, as well as offering a variety of clinical modalities to assist clients harvest the most out of their altered state experiences, in which there is greater access to subconscious thoughts, memories, and spiritual healing.

WHAT IS INTEGRATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Dr. John Danyi (Eugene Ketamine Clinic) and I offer a combined approach to therapy.

Integration is an ongoing process. Integration is a key component in supporting clients to bring what they've learned and the healing experienced during their ketamine session into their daily life. The medicine of ketamine is a pivotal aspect of the healing that takes place, as the action of ketamine's neurogenesis process can continue for days (generally 24-72 hours at the peak of the window of neuroplasticity, up to six days). Though, pairing ketamine and integration therapy together makes for a more enduring healing experience and prolongs the benefits of the ketamine sessions.

Sessions focus on creating a increased sense of comfort as you go into your session, intention setting, relaxation, healing modalities, and other helpful hints for navigating your upcoming altered state experience. An optional integration-counseling session is ideally scheduled a day to three days following the session, or the following week.

CAN I JUST GET ORAL OR NASAL KETAMINE PRESCRIBED FOR HOME USE?

No. We do not offer ketamine maintenance for independent use, only as part of our integrative and clinical services in our supportive office setting.

WHAT IF I HAVE INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE, WHAT'S COVERED?

Insurance does not cover the actual ketamine services, while you are under the influence of the medicine, nor the cost of the medicine. For some commercial insurance plans some will accept a super-bill generated by Dr. John Danyi and reimburse for some of the infusion services.

Depending on your insurance type, insurance may cover the preparation and integration counseling sessions (before the ketamine experience, and on a different day following your ketamine experience). Otherwise, these will be private pay. These specialized counseling sessions with psychedelic integrative counselor typically take about an hour. You can let us know your insurance coverage to confirm what your extra costs or coverage may be for engaging in these extra supportive sessions. If your insurance is out of network, you have the option of paying up front for the integrative sessions, then will be provided super-bill by therapist to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If integrative therapist is on the insurance billing panel, services can be billed directly to insurance company.

WHAT IS THE PRIVATE PAY RATE FOR INDIVIDUAL PREPARATION & INTEGRATION COUNSELING SESSIONS?

We offer extra preparation and integration counseling sessions at 150 rate. Sessions are typically around an hour. As a courtesy, if you have insurance and a copay, on ketamine days, we waive your copay if you are having your integration session prior to your ketamine session. Sessions for preparation and integration are typically conducted via zoom. Any copays owed can be paid the next ketamine session.

DO YOU OFFER GROUP PREPARATION AND INTEGRATION SESSIONS?

Yes. We offer a EPIC Integration Group, which includes helpful strategies on preparation and integration. This group is open to our existing clients and those who have received past services with us. Group is offered via zoom a few times a month. Cost is 35 a session. Group Integration sessions explore a variety of themes including Embodiment (how to bring insights gained during ketamine experience into daily life), Integration Yoga (how physical movement and coming into the body helps us integrate emotions), Mindfulness and Guided meditative experiences (focused on common group themes), exploring what Self-Care 101 means individually, and How to Prepare for next ketamine experience.

DO YOU OFFER ORIENTATION SESSIONS AND QUESTION/ANSWER SESSIONS FOR CLIENTS/FAMILY/FRIENDS?

Yes. We offer a monthly EPIC Ketamine Q&A Group, which is a loosely structured orientation session to allow for common questions and to receive recommendation on how clients and support people can best prepare for the first ketamine session, a ketamine series, or when the ketamine series has come to an end. The group is a good format for discussing common questions about ketamine, leaning more about intentions and the importance of integration, and to ask questions or discuss concerns that need further follow-up. Discussions may include basic relaxation strategies, types of ketamine services and maintenance programs offered, self-care, navigating the joys and challenges of personal growth, and learning more about our EPIC Integration Group offering. Our Ketamine Q&A Group is open for new and existing clients. Support people (family/friends) are also welcome to attend. Sessions are offered via Zoom and at No Cost.

WHAT IS PROVIDED IF I ONLY SCHEDULE FOR THE INTEGRATIVE PACKAGE 2, WITHOUT ARRANGING FOR ANY EXTRA PREPARATION AND INTEGRATION SESSIONS?

If you choose not to have any additional preparation and integration counseling sessions with our integrative therapist, we will just focus a bit on your intentions and cover a few relaxation strategies before your session, while we are also taking care of other business such as paying for your services and signing a consent for services that day (about 10-20 minute pre-session process). You will then have support during and coming out of your experience, and will be provided with notes of your session via email depending on how much you share about your experience. Engaging in relaxation strategies before your session, practicing good mindful breathing during and afterwards, and journaling about your experiences is helpful. If you have an outside counselor this is also beneficial.

I HAVE AN OUTSIDE COUNSELOR. HOW DOES THIS WORK?

We often have clients that take advantage of both services, our integrative counseling services that are tailored to enhance or integrate each ketamine session, while also seeing their regular mental health support person. At other times, clients utilize the short-term counseling services during their KAP series and maintenance program, which often include extra preparation and integration sessions. We do recommend getting set up with a counselor or having a support person to talk to following your KAP series, if you do not have one. Depending on your interest and needs, we can suggest some referrals. There are also community support groups for integration available, including the one we offer (EPIC Group Integration). For seeing one of our licensed therapists using your insurance, please schedule on a different day than your counseling sessions with primary counselor to avoid any billing issues.

HOW CAN I ALSO GET SET UP WITH NEUROFEEDBACK?

We offer neurofeedback as part of our Eugene Neurofeedback practice. This is another healing modality, like ketamine, that strengthen neuropathways that support personal growth and management of chronic symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms, pain, cognitive concerns, mood management, insomnia, and assists with integrating challenging life events related to chronic stress and trauma. We have a waitlist for these services for counseling with neurofeedback with insurance funding and private pay options. Those who receive ketamine services and are interested in making neurofeedback a part of their ketamine aftercare maintenance program move up on our waitlist, or alternatively we can offer referrals to other community neurofeedback practitioners.

WHAT DAYS DO YOU OFFER KETAMINE?

Ketamine sessions with Dr. John Danyi, medical focus, are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
KAP Integrative Sessions, with Dr. John Danyi and Integrative Therapist are offered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our ketamine nurse, Heather, generally works on Mondays and some Fridays.

HOW LONG DO SESSIONS LAST?

Generally, first sessions take a bit longer. The average time range of most sessions is between a hour and a half to two hours (1 1/2 to 2 hours). This includes pre and post medical intervention time, preparation and integration counseling, and the active effect of the ketamine. The medical procedure (e.g. the actual running time of a ketamine infusion is around 40 minutes. When you leave office, you will be oriented and able to walk on your own. Though, depending on individual differences, you may still feel a bit dissociated or unsteady.

CAN I DRIVE MYSELF TO MY KETAMINE SESSIONS OR DRIVE LATER THAT DAY?

For your safety and the safety of others, you will agree to arrange transport to your ketamine appointments, and agree not to drive the day of ketamine.

CAN I WORK ON THE DAY OF MY KETAMINE SESSIONS?

Ultimately, it's up to you. However, it is ideal to plan for a low-key day coming into your session and following to get the most from your experience, remembering the importance of SET and SETTING. Part of the SET is your mindset that you bring into your session, so being as calm and centered within yourself is most helpful. This type of healing service is also best supported by your focused self-care time following your session to support your healing journey. However, it’s fine to work the following day and engage in your life as normal.

WHAT IS OUR PROCESS OF INTAKE? DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM A PSYCHIATRIST OR MY DOCTOR?

Ideally a MD or psychiatrist referral is most helpful, however you can also self-refer yourself. If you self-refer, try to send us a progress note that lists any problems/diagnosis related to medical and mental health concerns. People do this by either contacting their MD directly to assist with referral, or by accessing their patient portal through medical group then downloading a progress note. You can start referral process and intake by filling out and submitting the intake form and referral form, even if you fill them out yourself. Once Dr. John Danyi receives and reviews, then we can go to the next step in the referral process. If more mental health information is needed, we can explore other options, including having you fill out some mental health screenings surveys for depression, anxiety, and adverse childhood events, which is also included in our intake process.

INITIAL INTAKE FORMS TO SCHEDULE CONSULT WITH DR. JOHN DANYI. THIS IS STEP ONE IN GETTING SERVICES WITH US. YOU CAN EMAIL OR FAX FORMS BACK TO DR. DANYI, OR TO CATHY DIRECTLY WHO WILL HELP FOLLOW YOUR REFERRAL PROCESS AND EXPEDITE IF POSSIBLE. (CATHY'S EMAIL: epichealingeugene@gmail.com).

Once approved, a recommendation will be made regarding the type of ketamine package anticipated to best meet your needs, number of sessions recommended, and type of ketamine administration. At this stage, please be in touch with Cathy Jonas, LCSW for completing intake paperwork and for scheduling. Cathy will first create an online account for you, which ia an HIPAA approved electronic charting site. Cathy will email you your login information. Once you complete our intake forms, you are ready to be scheduled for your ketamine treatment sessions. While not required, to help you get the most out of your first session, we encourage new clients to attend one of our orientation zoom sessions, or to schedule a preparation-counseling session with Cathy or one of our integrative therapists.
