What brought Cathy to EPIC?
Integrative Heart-Centered Therapist
As a licensed clinical social worker, Cathy Rosewell Jonas brings a thirty-five-year history of working in a variety of agencies and hospital settings including starting a counseling and coaching practice in 2014. Since then she’s attended several trainings, continually expanding her offerings of healing modalities including neurofeedback, heart-centered hypnotherapy, and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Along with her professional development and learning enhanced ways to help others in their healing, Cathy has been on her own personal and spiritual growth path, ignited by a powerful and life changing psychedelic experience on her eighteenth birthday, described in her first book Bringing Home the Mountain: Finding the Teacher Within (2010). Then in 2015 Cathy started exploring the healing benefits of plant medicine described in her most recent book, Metamorphosis of an Awakened Heart-With Teachings from Mother Ayahuasca (2021).
Again adding to her healing toolbox, Cathy completed a year-long 150 hour certification course through the IPI (Integrative Psychiatry Institute) in Boulder, graduating in May 2022. Cathy’s main interest for attending the psychedelic assisted therapies program was to become well-prepared in providing psilocybin healing in Eugene, when legal in 2023. In addition to receiving training in psilocybin, the course also provides training and certification in ketamine assisted therapies (KAP), as well as MDMA. Learning about the swift healing benefits of ketamine for treatment of a variety of issues such as depression, suicidality, anxiety, and PTSD, Cathy knew she’d need to coordinate with a medical provider who could offer Ketamine therapy. To this means she reached out to Dr. John Danyi, and soon discovered a complimentary healing vision for bringing integrative, transformational, and uniquely specialized healing services to the community of Eugene. To this means, Eugene Psychedelic Integrative Center (EPIC Healing Eugene) was born.
May 2022 Update: In Cathy's continued experiential training in psychedelic assisted therapies, she is currently working on three more certificates, including the 8-week Modern Spirit River Course (an integrative approach to psychedelic therapies and sacred plant medicine) by Dr. Joe Tafur (author of The Fellowship of the River); the 12-week Roots to Thrive personal intensive course that includes applied supportive personal growth and clinical modalities for preparation and integrative strategies for working with ketamine and other psychedelics in group setting; and completing an additional IPI (Integrative Psychiatry Institute) module for a MAPS approved MDMA certificate. More offerings to come...
Sedona in Eugene- A Spiritual Spa Experience
What brought John to EPIC?
Dr. Danyi is a Board-certified anesthesiologist, practicing for 40 years. It was in his residency that he became familiar with the use of ketamine to alter consciousness in his anesthesia practice, and became comfortable with IV infusions as well as any complications that might arise.
Increasingly aware of the serious health crisis that severe depression and PTSD posed, and the limited treatment options available, he came out of retirement to run the Portland Ketamine Clinic in August, 2019. He soon realized that as good as IV Ketamine was, the clinical model where the patient was merely a passive recipient seemed less than ideal.
Dr. Danyi then received training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy at the Polaris Insight Center in San Francisco to help the patients process their experiences during their NOSC (Non-ordinary States of Consciousness). His decades of experience in attending those with trauma and altered states of consciousness turned out to be very useful in helping patients process those experiences.
